A drug maker, Pfizer, who is very well known to treat millions with their medicines is set to roll out a twice a day type pill to cure lung cancer which would be given to few chosen candidates round the year.
The food and drug administration (FDA) approved Pfizer's Xalkori to treat patients who have small lung cancer due to genetic variation. The FDA approved the pill in combination with a genetic test to figure out who has the best chance to respond to the medicine. The new lung cancer pill would cost about $9,600 a month. But the company promises that the results would be substantial.
There some common side effects of the pill like vision problems, nausea, diarrhoea etc. these side effects would be rarely seen in less than 2 per cent of patients.

On Friday, the US Food and Drug Association approved Pfizer's new drug for lung cancer cure. Xalkori, generically know as crizotinib will be used to treat patients with late stage non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), who also express the abnormal ALK gene.
Crizotinib will be part of a paradigm shift in lung cancer management, where lung cancer patients are tested for specific mutations, and if positive they can be treated with targeted therapies. Usually, such pills for lung cancer treatment are more effective than traditional therapies like chemotherapy and radiation. In layman's terms, what this means is that it personalizes the patients' treatment for lung cancer in order to get more effective results.
The drug was approved by the FDA on a fast-track under its priority review program for drugs that may offer major advances in fields that do not have appropriate therapies in place.

There is more hope for proper and specific treatment for pateints of lung cancer. The silent killer, which is the name often ascribed to lung cancer, has been avioded to be treated with thermal ablation for some time now, since the effects of the treatement on patients of lung cancer was considered harmful.
The latest study done on its effects on lung cancer treatment, by M.D. at Rhode Island Hospital, Damian E. Dupuy. Journal Radiology will publish the article supporting usage of ablation methodologies for lung cancer treatment. This technique will specifically prove to be a boon for those lung cancer pateints who have tried other treatments that have failed or/and have advanced age or medical complications.
